I've always been terrible at taking photos of myself. My aim is all wrong - I usually end up with a shot of the background.
Last weekend, when I was all made up to attend the Melbourne Writers Festival, I stood in front of my bedroom mirror and took a photo. Sure, it took about three hundred clicks to get my whole face in the shot - but better late than never, right?
It also shows off my new haircut (very short again)!
Okay, confession time: I did have to crop it a bit. What else did I do? I added a vignette (black border) and created an interesting mix of black and white with sepia tone. The dark shades make me feel a bit mysterious (which I'm clearly not, if you've read any of this blog).
How did you go this week? Any photos to share?

I love this photo SO much. Self-portraits are so fun.
ReplyDeleteA few months ago, Sarah from Ah! The Possibilities posted a self portait of herself but it was sans makeup. I loved it, and it inspired me to take a self portrait with no makeup on, too.
Of course, Sarah looked gorgeous and I knew I could never look that good - and sure enough, the resultant photo was shelved and I was too nervous to make it public.
But you've inspired me to put it on my blog.
Eeep.
Lovely pic, Megan. Honest, a bit tentative, sweet. Just like I imagine you. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the B&W/sepia tones, too - I can't help playing with things like that, either. ;)
Looks great! & love your new do. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely. You look like Jamie Lee Curtis.......
ReplyDeleteLove the pic and your hair :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely photo. I am getting tired of mine, you have inspired me to do another one.
ReplyDeleteI would love to take great photos, but I really don't know how even to work my little point and shoot Canon without it coming out all blurry or washed out in natural light.
You're beautiful Megan! Great photo.
