Blog Town. Population: You.

News Update: In Blog Town, things are becoming increasingly odd. Suspicious behaviour has been noted, including (but not limited to) nervous, fidgety residents, an unexplainable sense of anticipation in the air, even more discussion, planning, gathering and note-taking than usual, and lots and LOTS of talk about clothes.

What could all this be about?

It's just one week until the big conference!

This time next week, just shy of 200 bloggers will be gathering in Sydney ready to chat drink eat learn and network. The day-long event has been transformed into a weekend social event of mammoth proportions, as only the planning skills of this many bloggers could do.

Other than a small stumble over having nothing to wear (crisis over, thanks to some wonderful advice from Nikki, Twitter support from Bianca and Claire, and of course my good friend who came shopping with me!), I'm pretty calm about the whole thing. I think my nerves are taking a backseat because of my past. My deep, dark past - I mean, my corporate, conference-attending, boardroom-speaking, meeting new people who had expectations of me, past.

So I'm not nervous about anything. Yet. But the nerves will hit. Oh yes, they will. Probably the night before when I have a drink in hand and I remember that I'm speaking in the first session of the day and then I'll have to stop myself from drinking even more to make myself forget that fact and then turn up with a massive hangover and bags under my eyes and not making any sense to anyone. Make sense?

Right now, the excitement is what I'm focused on. A weekend away, meeting people I feel like I've already known for years, meeting new people, catching up with a few that I've already met before - it's going to be fun!
