If you April Fool me, I WILL be mad

I'm a scrooge of many 'days'... Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day - I don't like them. This may stem from some deep psychological dislike of being told what to do... but that's another story for another 'day'.

But there's no day I dislike more than April Fool's Day.

I'm not a person who will believe just anything - in fact, I'll struggle to believe things on the best of days. Truth is stranger than fiction, as they say, and I'll search for the proof of almost anything someone tells me.

And on April Fool's Day, I'm even worse. I'm looking out for lies and practical jokes, trying not to read or listen to anything.

I hate that feeling.

Yes, I'm a 'day' scrooge.

Be warned. April Fool me and I will be angry.

  1. I'm not one for celebrating 'Days' either. I will happily steal your term of 'Day Scrooge' and use it from now on.

(Note: this is not an April Fool Day comment. I really, really mean it. Honest. :-) )

  2. I dont like the community of lies that is fostered by this day.. Pranks are fine.. And can be funny on occasion.. Such as some of the stuff big companies do putting ads in the paper and what not.. But when ppl pull pranks like: "I'm pregnant" or whatever.. That shits me.. Its a lie.. Not a prank.. And it's not funny!

  3. Ugh this is the day I dread most as well, and will too be forced to turn to anger if I am outed as a big time fool.

Probably has something to do with my naivety but I tend to live this day out like a little ball of nervous tension...

  5. It's such a sneaky day! I do look forward the the local newspapers front page. Every year they run a most ridiculous story and it's funny how many people believe it.

  7. Not really a fan here. Today's the first day it's even come up in conversation in our family - Alexander must have heard it at school..

  8. I just don't get this day, and yes like you I am a Day Scrooge too.
For me, April the 1st is my sister's birthday, nothing more. And that's the way I like it.

  9. I hate it too, for the opposite reason. I tend to believe first, question later. So I feel like an idiot when I get 'done'....fortunately it hasn't happened quite a few years. Maybe 'cause I never get out! lol :)

  13. I don't like pranks that hurt people. If it's a silly little "oh you had me going" moment then that's fine.

I wouldn't call myself a Day Scrooge (awesome term, you should copyright that :P) but I'm a Day-Card Scrooge - I refuse to buy Father's/Mother's/Valentine's/Christmas/Easter cards. It's a waste of money and a waste of paper.
