And as I began unpacking, I laid out the top 13 things a hiker needs...
- Water
- A small, top quality sleeping bag
- A good pack
- Energy food
- Chocolate (yes, this deserves its own category)
- Lightweight, comfortable pants
- Windproof tops
- A good raincoat
- A small, lightweight tent
- A torch
- Lots of socks
- Mattress
- Camera
(Note - there are a few other things not shown, which my parents carried, including a first aid kit and dehydrated meals.)

Of course chocolate deserves a category of its own, around here it is considered a food group! I can't wait to read more of your hike.
